Do Saturday mornings remind you of settling down in front of the television with a bowl of sugary cereal, pajamas still on, rushing to get things done between commercial breaks?  Nostalgia comes in all shapes and forms--and languages!  Take a gander at these free online classic cartoons that have been dubbed in French, cozy up with your loved ones, and let the fun begin.

1. Clifford, le grand chien rouge

Clifford, the Big Red Dog has his own book series and television show.  Starting as a small dog, Clifford was adopted by Emily and her family, not once expecting him to grow 25 feet tall!   Follow Emily and her favorite dog around as they go on wacky neighborhood adventures here.

2. Arthur

Arthur is another family favorite! This book series and television show follows Arthur l’oryctérope du cap (which doesn’t exactly have the same ring to it as “Arthur the Aardvark”...) and his elementary school friends as they struggle with growing up and find that having fun isn’t hard when you have a library card.  Follow his everyday life here.

3. Quoi d’neuf, Scooby Doo?

Want to venture into mysteries?  Scooby Doo will never get old--as can be seen from the various adaptations throughout the years!  Yet through it all, their lovable group dynamic remains the same despite all the technological changes their crime solving has embraced.  Though each episode is broken up into 5 parts, you can follow Scooby and the gang’s adventures unmasking villains here.

4. Inspecteur Gadget

Is sci-fi more your style?  With wacky inventions and a (bumbling) fatherly demeanor, Inspector Gadget solves crimes with the help of his daughter, Penny.  Watch them thwart the nefarious Dr. Claw and grab laughs here.

5. Totally Spies

John le Carré who?   A newer show with the same spirit as the older favorites on this list, Totally Spies originally aired in Canada.  Three high school girls become spies and put villains behind bars--without sacrificing their feminine attributes.  Watch them figure out how to balance their spy life and social life here.

Amy Layton

Library Assistant

Amy grew up in a small rural town in Washington and left home to study French and English literature at Southern Oregon University. This led her to La Ferté-sous-Jouarre to teach high school students English through the TAPIF program. From there, she travelled back to the states and received her Masters of Library and Information Science and Children’s Literature at Simmons University. In her spare time, she practices latte art and watches Danny Phantom.
