Summary/ObjectiveThe Youth Programs Manager is in charge of educational programs for children and teenagers within the Education Department, and occasionally in collaboration with other departments. Desired start date: October 15, 2021. Please note that candidate must be local or able to commute to work.

- Supervise teaching staff, including interviewing, training, guidance, and evaluation
- Develop curriculum for bilingual and non-French speaking students ages 1 to 17
- Select textbooks and accompanying pedagogical materials
- Create supplemental materials for all levels including educational games and activities
- Regular review, evaluation, and adjustments of lesson plans created by teaching staff
- Ensure adequate class placement of students by administering language tests and conducting interviews with children and parents
- Organize and supervise 10 to 11 week-long Summer in French Program for kids and 4 to 5 week-long Summer in French program for teenagers including hiring and training of staff as well as development and implementation of curriculum
- Manage classroom assistants
- Act as a liaison between parents, the teaching staff and the Education Department administration
- Organize and supervise cultural events for children in coordination with other departments
- Work with the marketing department to develop promotional materials for all children’s and teens’ programs
- Serve as Accent on Success program coordinator and work together with the Director of Education to modify program as needed.
- Take part in DELF/TEF training, participate in DELF/TEF Examination sessions as an examiner
- Manage, order and stock educational, artistic, musical and outdoor materials for the children’s classes
- Perform basic functions with the Center’s database system (ActiveNet)
- Ensure that rooms are set up for educational activities and cleaned up thereafter when required

Required Education and Experience
- College degree.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Complete fluency in French and English.
- Experience with databases and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience managing staff.
- Minimum 2 year experience teaching FLE classes for children/teens.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, French as a Second Language (FLE) or a related field.
- Experience in curriculum development for early childhood.
- Knowledge of the French and American school systems
- Knowledge of FLE textbooks
- Knowledge of the CECRL
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position supervises directly all full-time and part-time teachers for youth programs.

While performing the duties of this job onsite, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending and kneeling. The employee must occasionally lift or move items up to 50 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job remotely at the employee’s home, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is not very active and requires sitting/standing behind a desk and a computer for extending periods of time.
ScheduleThis is a full-time position (40h per week). Work schedule is Tuesday to Saturday from September to mid-June and Monday to Friday from mid-June to August.
Some evening work expected throughout class sessions, and for open houses and other Center events: compulsory presence and extended availability during the first week prior to the start of each session and the first week of classes of each session. Availability is also required during special programs as well as all exam sessions and special events.
TravelLimited travel is expected for this position, mainly local.
