About this Class

Our core language classes will strengthen your French through speaking, writing and comprehension activities while providing insights into Francophone culture. Our teachers and curriculum use cutting-edge methods and resources to develop your skills and confidence in French. With full immersion from day one and a communicative, task-based approach you'll gain the knowledge you need to embrace the Francophone world!

Learn How To
  • Introduce yourself and others, talk about yourself; ask for information on others.
Grammar
  • Prepositions of place (à, en, au, aux), the verbs être, avoir and s’appeler, the basic negative (ne…pas); definite articles (le, la, les), some nationalities
Society and Culture
  • Talk about French artists, learn about the Swiss and Belgian number systems, discover a few francophone celebrities, l’OIF.
Vocabulary
  • People, pastimes, identity, countries and nationalities, numbers up to 100.
Phonetics
    • Pronouncing a basic sentence: Je m’appelle Arthur; je suis français; word stress: Pierre est allemand, Jeanne est anglaise.

Learn How To
      • Ask for and give directions, understand an itinerary, get around via the metro or the bus.
Grammar
      • Definite and indefinite articles, ER verbs as well as the verbs aller, prendre and descendre, the question word quel, gender and agreement for nouns and adjectives.
Society and Culture
      • Discover Paris and Montreal
Vocabulary
      • Describe city living, public transportation, different professions, and numbers through 1 billion.
Phonetics
      • Rising and falling intonation: Vous venez avec nous? / Elle est à la maison.
      • Pronouncing ER verbs in the present: Je travaille / Ils travaillent
