About this Class

Chef Passard, Couillon, Grattard and Troisgros are among the most famous men and women chefs of their native land and beyond. They allow us to enter their kitchen, their private garden and witness what cuisine and life as a contemporary Chef cuisinier étoilé is. You will get a glimpse of their respective region as you discover their universe.

Objectives of this course:
Each week, you will study the lives and culinary creations of these geniuses. By the end of the session, it will be your turn to create a French recipe of your own to make at home. We can't wait to see what you will come up with! Note: Netflix subscription recommended, although it is not necessary to sign up—weekly handout including various media will be provided to students. Communicative and Linguistic objectives:
Understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered.
Deal with most situations likely to arise while experiencing several types of situations: role plays and creative writing micro tasks.
Produce well connected text on topics that are from various interests.
Describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions; give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans; make usage of appropriate speech verbal tools and introduce notion of nuances

About Michaela Jordan

Michaela was raised bilingual (French and English) in Southern Burgundy, by a family who has dedicated their lives to the wine and spirit industry. She has studied Languages and Education at University Lyon II and has been intermittently teaching French to students, in England and the United States, since 2013. Michaela has taught courses on French Language, Culture, Literature, and Translation, from introductory to advanced. This year, she has been working towards getting a second master's degree in Comparative Literature at Dartmouth College. When Michaela is not teaching at the French Cultural Center, she is teaching at a local French school. In her spare time, she loves to bake, climb, and travel.
