Chambord, Blois, Maintenon, and hundreds of other châteaux that dot the Loire River have long fascinated enthusiasts of great architecture throughout the world. Although designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, the history of the Loire châteaux began a millennium earlier and date from the fortified fortresses built in the 10th century to the famously intricate, fabulously turreted Louis period-style royal residences of the 15th to 18th centuries, with their rococo interiors and grassy courtyards.
With Julien as your guide, you will enjoy a virtual tour of these impressive buildings as you learn about their origins and unparalleled architectural style.
