About this Class

Our core language classes will reinforce your French through speaking, writing and comprehension activities while providing insights into Francophone culture. Our teachers and curriculum use cutting-edge methods and resources to augment your skills and boost your confidence in French. With a focus on conversational French and active student participation using videos and interactive exercises, you will master the finer aspects of the French language.

Required: B2-1 or equivalent. Prepare for CECR B2
Required textbook: Cosmopolite 4
In this course you will cover units 3 and 4; pp. 48 to 83. Please note that a CD player is needed to play the included disc.

Content you will cover in Unit 3:

Learn How To
Compare preferences, summarize and review a book, debate a topic, describe an actor, uncover a problem and provide solutions, discuss cultural nuances, give your opinion on a trend, understand a creative process.

The comparative and the superlative to establish hierarchy in a sentence, relative pronouns to avoid repetition, the mise en relief to point out information, the pronouns y and en.

Society, Culture, and Vocabulary
Analyze the content and style of a book, talk about cultural heritage, examine different language registers (informal, standard, formal).

Learn How To
Talk about new technologies, question the pros and cons of innovation, comment on societal shifts due to increases in technology, craft your point of view and style of argumentation.

Ask questions using inversion, express time and duration, use cause and effect sentence structures.

Society, Culture, and Vocabulary
Use negative prefixes to create adjectives, talk about social media and other online developments, use punctuation creatively, manipulate different connecting words to develop an argument.
