About this Class

French and English have peculiarities that sometimes only an immersion experience in these languages can elucidate. However, another method for acquiring an idiomatic knowledge of French is the practice of translation, with the use of processes such as la transposition, la modulation, le calque, l’emprunt, l’étoffement etc. This course offers the opportunity to translate short literary extracts using techniques that allow us to improve our French language skills both in speaking and in writing.

Learn translation methods and strategies; understand the grammatical, stylistic and idiomatic differences between English and French; improve written production in French; improve oral production in French; use translation strategies in the daily use of the French language.
