About this Class

Our core language classes will strengthen your French through speaking, writing and comprehension activities while providing insights into Francophone culture. Our teachers and curriculum use cutting-edge methods and resources to expand your skills and increase your confidence in French. With full immersion from day one and a communicative, task-based approach you'll gain a deeper understanding of the French language and Francophone world!

Required: A2-4 or equivalent. Prepare for CECR B1
Required textbook: Cosmopolite 3
In this course you will cover units 1 and 2; pp. 12 to 49. Please note that a CD player is needed to play the included disc.

Learn How To
Identify criteria for something, be cautious or aware of something, express your wishes and intentions, ask politely for something, talk over the phone, describe a place, give advice, outline a hypothetical situation, describe a memory, describe a visit to a foreign city.

Grammar
The conditional tense (present) to express requests, advice, suggestions, and hypotheticals; adjective placement, the relative pronouns and dont.

Society, Culture, and Vocabulary
Talk about foreign cities (their pros and cons, their culture), speak over the phone, compare different types of housing.

Phonetics
The liaison in French, the flow of consonant sounds: c’est une école internationale ; spoken versus written French: Ça ne vous dit rien ?

Learn How To
Express feelings, understand a complaint, resolve a problem, take care of health problems, learn about health insurance, ask for help, comprehend an administrative document, present similarities and differences, both subtle and obvious.

Grammar
The subjunctive tense with emotions, how to write a letter of complaint, present a consequence, the imperative tense, indirect discourse (“he said that she was late”), using the negative to talk about personal preferences.

Society, Culture, and Vocabulary
Use the internet to solve a problem, talk about the symptoms of a sickness, and understand the workings of French health insurance, complete administrative tasks, ask for help when figuring out a problem.

Phonetics
How to express discontent, l’accent d’insistance : Il faut que vous trouviez une solution rapidement ! Nasal vowels: Je manque sûrement d’imagination
