About Summer in French
We offer language instruction for every child from the beginner to the bilingual student. Activities are age appropriate and tailored to the language level of the child. Each week focuses on a theme with a variety of special activities, including visits from exotic animals, puppet shows, cooking, theater, fashion, art and perfume workshops—all excellent opportunities for children to increase their vocabulary and stimulate their conversation skills. Outdoor activities take place at a nearby playground and at the Boston Common.
We focus on creating a dynamic, fun and comfortable learning experience in order for children to develop a love for languages. In this way, children become experiential learners, but more than just learning a new language, they will interpret the world from a different perspective.

Calling all young actors! Theater encompasses a wide range of skills from embodying a character to interpretive movement and is an excellent medium through which to learn a language. Kids will move, shout and laugh their way through imaginary spaces – what better way to make a word stick in their head than to act it out?!
Week 2: La bande dessinée / Comics
Tintin and Astérix are just a few of the characters in the wonderful world of French and Francophone comics. Kids will enrich their vocabulary and travel across time and space with this amazing literary genre. They will even get to create their very own comics!
Week 3: Le Monde des Animaux / Animals and their Habitats
Learning to care for our planet involves discovering the incredible world of animals. Kids will learn about different species of animals and their habitats. From the meadows of France and the Boréale forests of Quebec to the jungles of Madagascar, animals in these environments all need our nurturing and protection. Planting the seed early helps children better understand and play a part in our ecosystem.
Week 4: La Magie et les Arts du Cirque / Magic and Circus Arts
Prepare to be wowed by acts great and small, both magical and beautiful in this homage to the quatrième art. Kids will learn vocabulary through observation and movement as they discover tricks, illusions and acts to wow their audience! You will want to see what they pull out of their hats!
Week 5: Les Chefs Pâtissiers / Pastry Chefs
From galettes to financiers, kids will enjoy discovering and making regional French pâtisseries recipes that are sure to make their mouths water! A hands-on approach to learning and interacting in French, they will learn valuable teamwork skills in the kitchen and compile yummy and personalized recipe books.
Week 6: Les Beaux-Arts / Fine Arts
Great for visual learners, art is an excellent medium for conveying language and this week is sure to bring out each child’s creativity and passion. Through the discovery of unique artists and their masterpieces, children will create projects using an array of media and have their own vernissage (private art viewing) at the end of the week for parents to admire.
Week 7: Les Superhéros / Superheroes
Help your kid discover the superpowers in them to go out and save the world! Kids will create their own superhero alter ego and form a team of superheroes so powerful they can change the world.
Week 8: Les Cuisines Francophones / Cuisines from the Francophone World
Every Michelin star chef needs to start somewhere! This week, kids will discover the ingredients that go into creating delicious meals while having fun and being creative with the presentation of each succulent dish. Their work will go into preparing for the discerning palettes of...their parents!
Week 9: La Mode / Fashion Week
Fashion is an outward expression of who we all are. Kids will use colors, textures, and textile prints to stylize their favorite outfits all while learning clothing-related vocabulary and words unique to the world of fashion. Through techniques inspired by French designers, older kids will stylize a photo shoot and create their own line of clothing and accessories.
Week 10: La Musique Francophone / Francophone Music From Sénégal to Québec, kids will discover diverse francophone music while learning French through rhythms and songs. A perfect way for auditory learners to practice pronunciation and tap into their listening skills.
