Dear parents and guardians,
We hope you are well and enjoyed a safe and happy holiday season.
Many of you have already inquired about our plans for a Summer in French program this year, and we would like to provide you with an update.
Because the pandemic is still ongoing, we unfortunately cannot commit to hosting an in-person Summer in French at this time. We understand that this is disappointing news, but we do want to ensure that our community continues to stay safe and healthy during these uncertain times.
We will continue to monitor the situation and make an official announcement later in the spring as to whether or not we will offer an in-person summer program.
In the meantime, we want to let you know that we will be moving forward with our new-and-improved virtual Summer in French this year. A mix of old favorites and new thematic activities will keep your child engaged and learning en français this summer. Class size will be kept at 6 students, and we will offer a greater range of classes for students at different levels. The program will run from June 21 to July 23, with more weeks to be added later this spring.
Should we be able to announce an in-person summer program in the coming months, we will move forward with both the online and in-person versions. You will, of course, be able to change your child’s enrollment from the online to in-person offering if you wish.
We thank you for your patience and flexibility during this time. We understand that you may have questions and would invite you to contact Sarah Mills, Youth Programs Coordinator, at smills@frenchculturalcenter.org.
Thank you very much, and we look forward to supporting your child’s French language education this summer.
Best,
The Education Team
About My Fun Summer in French!
This summer, we are staying safe and keeping our programs online.
With our native French-speaking teachers, varied and engaging curriculum, and quality online educational resources, our virtual summer program is the perfect way to improve your child’s skills and confidence in the French language. We have fun and creative classes for children who are new to the French language, for children with prior experience, and for children at a native or bilingual level.
The summer program will run on a weekly basis over the course of 5 weeks, with more weeks to be added this spring. You can sign up for 1 or more weeks at a time, and each week will include an optional activity packet with the materials needed for the week’s lessons. All online classes have a maximum of 6 students to ensure one-on-one interaction with the teachers, so children can build confidence in a nurturing, engaging, and enriching environment.
Our Program
We offer language instruction for every child from the beginner to the bilingual student. Children participate in a variety of activities related to that week’s theme, including arts & crafts, games, storytelling, and more, all of which provide creative opportunities for children to strengthen their vocabulary and have fun speaking French.
Our programs are age appropriate, adapted to online learning, and tailored to the language level of the child. We focus on creating a dynamic, fun and comfortable learning experience in order for children to develop a love for languages. In this way, children become experiential learners, but more than just learning a new language, they will interpret the world from a different perspective.
Please ensure that your child follows our classroom rules, found
here.
