About Summer in French for Teens

This summer, we are staying safe and moving all our programs online.

Our two-week immersion program offers teens of any level a comprehensive approach to language acquisition. Our experienced native French-speaking teachers, remarkable resources and world-known Alliance Française method allows our Summer in French program for teens to combine language learning and cultural discovery into one immersive experience. Whether teens want to strengthen their linguistic skills or discover the many cultures of the Francophone class, we have options for them!

Our intensive language program (10h per week for 2 weeks) focuses on language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, while our 1-hour afternoon workshops offer a variety of cultural and linguistic options (music, arts, grammar, pronunciation to name a few).  We also offer a one-week session of our intensive program from August 24 - August 28 - a perfect refresher for students before heading back to school!

All online classes have a maximum of 6 students to ensure one-on-one interaction with the teachers.  Teens will build confidence in a nurturing, engaging and enriching environment.

Please ensure that your child follows our classroom rules, found here.

Language Program (9:00 AM - 11:00AM or 11:30AM-1:30PM)

Through oral and written comprehension as well as speaking and writing exercises, students acquire the linguistic tools they will need to effectively communicate in a variety of contexts. The program is divided into four skill levels, determined by a placement test. Interactive class activities and a task-based approach help students to learn level-specific grammar and vocabulary, all while discovering Francophone culture through French literature, artistic movements, distinctive regional traditions, and idiomatic expressions. Past students have used the program to get a head start on the academic year but also to prepare for the AP French exam.

Afternoon Workshops (2:30 PM - 3:30 PM Monday through Friday)

Our cultural workshops aim at expanding teens’ mind and knowledge.  Students explore French through a variety of disciplines—all in immersion. Fun and engaging thematic workshops enable them to understand and create their own work in French. Students of all levels experience French culture through studio art, theater, fashion, and virtual field trips to museums, restaurants, and galleries around the French speaking world!

Linguistic workshops are meant to give support to students who are struggling with grammar, pronunciation and other aspects of the French language. Small classes ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate and turn weakness into strength.
